Grammy-nominated Soul artist Marsha Ambrosius has released her new album, “Casablanco,” today, Friday, June 28, marking her first studio project since 2018.

Executive produced by the legendary Dr. Dre, the 11-track album features recent singles “One Night Stand” and “The Greatest.”

The collaboration began when Dre and Ambrosius worked on some tracks together, eventually deciding to create a full album. Earlier this year, Ambrosius released “The Greatest,” a track prominently featured in ESPN’s Heisman Trophy promos.

The follow-up single, “One Night Stand,” is an atmospheric soul anthem that explores a no-strings-attached romance.

“Casablanco” blends Jazz, Soul, and R&B with a modern twist and a big band, swing sound, capturing a classic-meets-contemporary theme. The album prominently features strings and piano, showcasing Ambrosius’ vocal range, control, and versatility. Notably, the tracks are backed by real instruments.

One standout track, “Smoke,” starts with a jazzy feel, featuring Ambrosius singing sensually alongside piano and strings, then transitions to a brief big-band sound before highlighting a modern twist. The song captures her desire to take a relationship to the next level and embrace all challenges.

This album is a true work of art, highlighting the Soul singer’s vocal versatility. It’s a unique offering in today’s music landscape, standing in a league of its own.

From her time in the R&B duo Floetry to her solo career, Ambrosius has captivated fans with her powerful voice and relatable lyrics. With singles like “Far Away,” “Run,” and “Late Nights & Early Mornings,” she has shared raw, emotional experiences of loss, heartache, and true connection. Additionally, her contributions as a songwriter for artists like Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, Solange, and H.E.R. have been significant.
