Kendrick Lamar’s album “GNX” has reclaimed the number one spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, marking its second week at the top. This resurgence to the number one position comes after Lamar’s widely viewed Super Bowl halftime performance and the physical release of the album, which was previously available only via streaming and digital downloads. This boost in sales has also propelled two of Lamar’s earlier albums, “DAMN.” from 2017 and “good kid, m.A.A.d city” from 2012, back into the top 10, landing at positions nine and ten respectively.

This achievement makes Lamar the first rap artist to have three albums simultaneously in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 since the chart began weekly publication in 1956. The Billboard 200 chart measures the most popular albums in the U.S. each week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes physical album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

In the week leading up to February 13, “GNX” generated significant activity, including 117,000 SEA units—amounting to over 161 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs. The album sold 116,000 copies that week, including a remarkable 87,000 in vinyl sales, marking the highest sales week for Lamar since “DAMN.” was released. “GNX” was first released in physical formats on February 7, available on CD, cassette, and five vinyl variants.

Lamar’s return to the top of the charts underscores his ongoing influence in the music industry and his ability to draw significant commercial success following high-profile performances. This chart movement also reflects the broader impacts of major events like the Super Bowl on artist visibility and sales.
