The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony sparked enthusiastic reactions from several legendary artists, including Mary J. Blige, Foreigner, and Dionne Warwick, who celebrated the honorees’ accomplishments and contributions to the music world.

Mary J. Blige, a pioneer of hip-hop soul, expressed her admiration for the inductees, highlighting the diversity of musical talent being honored. “This is a big win for all of us,” she said, recognizing the transformative impact of genres like hip-hop and R&B in shaping modern music.

The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul was still feeling the joyful emotions of her special moment, but also knew that would be the case. “I’m not surprised by how moved I was,” Mary J. Blige told Billboard. “But when you get in front of everyone and you have to let people know how much you appreciate them and remember what you’ve gone through and how far you’ve come and where you are now, that’s the moment where… it just messes you up. You just want to cry in front of everybody and just stay in a state of gratitude.”

Method Man, who inducted Blige alongside Dr. Dre, also wasn’t surprised by her reaction to the honor. I know how emotional Mary gets,” Method explained. “When you’ve been around someone and you’ve seen their ups and downs… I’ve seen this lady struggle with having to live up to a standard that she didn’t’ set (for) herself, that the audience set for her. Honestly, if people don’t know, that’s a hard thing. So to see her up there receiving her blessing and being genuinely happy, which she’s been for the past five, six years now, it’s great. I’m always rooting for her.”

Rock band Foreigner shared their appreciation for the recognition of classic rock legends. “Rock and roll has always been about breaking boundaries and uniting people through music,” they commented, paying tribute to their peers and the evolving influence of rock over generations.

Dionne Warwick, an icon in her own right, also weighed in, praising the mix of talent being celebrated. She emphasized the importance of recognizing musicians who have not only made timeless music but have also paved the way for future generations.
