Frankie Beverly, the legendary R&B singer and frontman of Maze, passed away on September 10, 2024, at the age of 77. Beverly’s soulful voice and timeless music, particularly hits like “Before I Let Go,” “Joy and Pain,” and “We Are One,” earned him a place as one of the most beloved figures in R&B history. Known for his smooth performances and ability to unite audiences across generations, he became a staple at cookouts, family gatherings, and events with his distinctive sound blending soul, funk, and R&B.

Born Howard Stanley Beverly in Philadelphia, he began his music career early, singing in church and forming several groups before founding Maze in the 1970s. His all-white stage outfits and the tradition of fans wearing white to Maze concerts became a defining part of his legacy.
