Noah Kahan’s track “Stick Season” topped the UK’s Official Singles Chart as the biggest song of 2024. Debuting at Number 1 early in the year, it maintained its top position for seven consecutive weeks, amassing nearly 2 million chart units from over 35,000 sales and 217 million streams.
Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” followed closely as the second biggest song, climbing to Number 1 in March after a nine-week journey up the chart. Boone’s subsequent release, “Slow It Down,” also made the year-end chart at Number 31.
Sabrina Carpenter claimed the third spot with “Espresso,” leading her trio of top 40 hits this year, which included “Please Please Please” and “Taste,” the latter being the longest-running UK Number 1 single of the year with nine weeks at the top.
Teddy Swims had the year’s best-selling and most-downloaded single with “Lose Control,” which peaked at Number 2 and ended the year fourth overall.
Hozier’s “Too Sweet” rounded out the top five, marking his first Number 1 single in the UK.
The year also saw notable success for Country music, with Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” becoming the biggest Country single of 2024, peaking at Number 3 and dominating the Official Independent Chart for 27 weeks.
Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and breakthrough British artist Myles Smith were among other notable chart performers, with Smith’s “Stargazing” becoming the biggest British single of the year. Notable TV show placements boosted tracks like Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder On The Dancefloor” and Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” back into the charts.
Physical sales were led by Taylor Swift and Post Malone’s “Fortnight,” and Ella Henderson marked a decade since her debut with the dance hit “Alibi,” which earned her a Top 10 hit and an Official Charts’ Top 10 Award.
Emerging artists also made their mark, with tracks like ARTEMAS’s “I Like The Way You Kiss Me” and Zach Bryan’s “I Remember Everything” ft. Kacey Musgraves breaking into the top 40, showcasing a vibrant and diverse year on the Official Charts.
